            Overview

Capstone 2012

Citizenship+

Join fourteen of your colleagues to participate in Citizenship+, a TNGO that uses social media to promote democratic values and institutions in countries around the world, including the Middle East and Central Asia.  This TNGO is located at Syracuse University, and it has a number of partners abroad, such as Democracy Now!, which is based at
Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands.

The simulation will begin on May 14 at 8:30 AM and feature opening remarks from Mr. Michael Henning, the Honorary Chairman of the Board of Citizenship+. It will continue throughout the day with a videoconference with the leadership of Democracy Now!, the preparation of funding proposals to USAID and the EU, and the organization of an annual meeting, which will be held on May 15th.

Citizenship+ is a TNGO that is organized around a network model consisting of three-person teams: the Board, Management, Operations, Communications, and Social Media.  In addition, teams representing external stakeholders, such as USAID, the international media, and officials from other countries will participate in the simulation.

The Capstone Seminar (IRP 706) is a one-credit course to be offered during the Maymester, providing professional training to you before you embark on your summer internship.  The object of the seminar is to give you the opportunity to apply what you have learned in a professional  setting.

The 2012 Maymester IRP 706 is a required core course for the
Maxwell MA-IR Program.

This is a fictitious simulation exercise that has been developed for educational purposes.
