Designing Web Sites with SharePoint Designer 2007

1. We have created space for your Web site in the following location: http://classes.maxwell.syr.edu/PSC783/2008

2. The address for your project will be this address followed by /YourCountryName. For example, if you are a member of the China group, the address for your Web site will be http://classes.maxwell.syr.edu/PSC783/2008/China/

3. Only the members of your group will have permission to access this area of "classes" on the Maxwell Web server.

4. I will give each country group a unique login and password, which you should not share.

Logging in with SharePoint Designer

Please remember when entering your username into SharePoint Designer, you must type maxwell-school\xxxxx. If you just type xxxxx, it will not work. Also please notice the difference between a backslash \ and a forward slash /.

To open your site for editing again please launch SharePoint and go to File> Open Site > enter the sites full address (such as http://student.maxwell.syr.edu/your-username/)

Moving Web Files from Your Student Account to the Course Web Account

Moving your Web files from your student account to the class Web account is easy. Use SharePoint Designer's  "Publish" function to copy your files to the class Website. You can find a tutorial on how to publish your Website here:

http://ict.maxwell.syr.edu/component/option,com_docman/task,doc_download/gid,25/

Please note that the "local" Web site is your student account and the "remote" Web site is the classes Web. The Web master has set permissions on your folder so you can publish your files to it.
