The GIA Lab has a number of printers available to users. These include two black-and-white laser printers (HP LaserJet 4M and HP LaserJet 4050N), a color inkjet printer (HP 2500CM - capable of tabloid size printing), a color laser printer (HP LaserJet 4500N - restricted use), and a large-format (36" wide) color printer (HP DesignJet 1055CM - restricted use). Users wanting to use the color laser and large-format printers should contact Brian von Knoblauch for access to these printers.

Before being able to print to a printer, it is necessary to configure your profile for that printer:

Steps for configuring your profile for a specific printer:

1. From the Start Menu, go to Settings --> Printers.
2. In the Printers window, double-click on Add Printer.
3. In the Add Printer Wizard dialog box, make sure that the "Network printer server" option is selected and click on Next.
4. In the list that follows, find the network path for the printer you want to use (see list below). Highlight the printer in the list and click on OK. If a dialog box asks you if you want to make this your default printer, select "Yes" or "No" and then click Next. Note: we strongly recommend making the default a b/w printer rather than a color printer. If you are installing a printer onto your profile for the first time, that printer will automatically become your default printer.
5. Click on Finish in the last dialog box. The printer should now be installed on your computer.

Take note that printing is monitored by ICT and by Brian von Knoblauch. Even though there are no quotas for pages printed, overuse of the printers will not be tolerated, especially for printing on the color printers. Please conserve printing resources by only printing in color when strictly necessary.
