Getting A's On Your Module Paper

Outstanding Policy Memo for Final Paper

You will complete five modules for PAF 101.

The due dates for modules are listed in the syllabus.  Modules are due at the beginning of class by 12:50 PM.  You will lose 5 points if you turn in a module late on the day it is due (no later than 4:30 pm ), and 10 points for each consecutive day the paper is late.  Late papers must be turned in to the Public Affairs office, 102 Maxwell, where it must be dated and stamped by an office employee.  Do not give late papers to your TA.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MODULES:

1.   Read the book before attempting to complete the modules.  If you do not read the appropriate chapters, you will not complete the exercises correctly.

2.  All modules are to be word processed in the file downloaded from the web.  Handwritten work will not be accepted.

3.   To complete each module, open the file you have downloaded and type your answers directly into the file.  Do not delete any of the instructions or scoring lines

4.  Keep your formatting consistent throughout the module! Do not alter the font or size of the text, indentation, or any other type of formatting or you will lose points.

5.   Follow the directions!!  Make sure you provide all of the information requested in each exercise and attach all necessary materials directly behind the relevant exercise.

6.   You will lose one point for every spelling, grammar, or punctuation error in your paper!  Be sure to spell check.

7.   Staple your paper neatly.  Do not use paper clips.  A heavy-duty stapler is available in the Public Affairs office for very thick papers.  You will lose points for any exercises or articles that are lost from a sloppy paper.

GRADING OF MODULES:

- The biggest loss of points in modules is from failure to follow directions.  After you complete each exercise, re-read the directions.  Make sure you answered all of the questions and provided all necessary information.

- The points awarded for each exercise are stated in the directions.

- You will lose one point for each spelling, grammar, or punctuation error.

- You will lose one point for each missing page break.

- On the References page for each module, you will lose one point for each error in format or punctuation on a citation.

- Failure to attach required materials will result in a zero for the exercise.
