Westcott Street Cultural Fair

    Walking Distance: Yes, just a couple blocks east of the Shaw Residence Hall
    Description: Help out with a number of activities, including working in the 'Kids' Korner', assisting in the set up and break down of stages, running the opening parade, attending barricades, monitoring recycling, and much more!

    Walking Distance: Yes, however, it would be easier to get there by bus.  There are many routes that will take you to Clinton Square, but the "Connective Corridor" bus would be your best bet and it is free.  The bus schedule can be found at http://www.centro.org/pdf/connective-corridor.aspx.  Get off at the S. Clinton Street stop and walk 2 blocks North and you will be in Clinton Square.
    Description: From 11AM - 5PM, help set-up route signage, booths, inflate balloons, organize walk materials. From 4:30PM - 9:30PM, work registration tents, distribute packaged food, distribute balloons, assist along the walk route, face painting, walk site clean-up after walk, etc.

Come play  Roller Coaster Tycoon, Spongebob SquarePants, and other fun computer games with a great group of kids at the Wilson Park Tech Center. Volunteers meet outside BBB at 3:45 and walk down together.

Description: A chance to work with high school students at the new Vocational School of the city. Tutors are expected to spend two hours with the freshman class answering questions on homework and helping with subjects including math, science, and writing.

MLK Afterschool program

Description: Offers reading, educational games, fun and interacting with kindergarten students to improve literacy within the Syracuse City School District. We'll meet at Brewster/Boland at 2:45 p.m. and walk (5 minutes) to MLK together as a group.

Chadwick Residence

Description: To provide women in need of safe affordable housing and the opportunity to seek out academic, vocational, and life management training to prepare them to reenter the community as useful, productive individuals capable of sharing their strengths and talents. PREFER WOMEN.
Potential Opportunities: Childcare in the evenings, cleaning rooms to prepare to move-ins, organizing food pantry, assist with various holiday parties. Need clerical assistance, gardening, copying, answering phones, assisting residents with computer training.

Dorothy Day House

Description: Dorothy Day house is a safe shelter for women and children who are in crisis. Advocacy, crisis counseling, casework, support groups and referral to local agencies such as social security, the Department of Social Services, counseling services, vocational training centers and educational institutions is offered. THE SHELTER IS IN A CONFIDENTIAL LOCATION WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE FROM THE UNIVERSITY.
Potential Opportunities: Service opportunities are varied and depend on the immediate need of the house. Opportunities include but are not limited to tutoring children, meal preparation, sorting donations and supervising children.
